Can you think of times where you showed up as your best self, and then other times where you wish you could have a do-over? Or maybe times when you wish you could find your best voice, and other times when your worst voice would not be quiet? Do you expend mental energy trying to forget, wishing for a re-do, or criticizing yourself? Perhaps you’ve become concerned over these two (or more) versions of you, and wondering which one is the real you?
One comforting thought here may be that you are not alone. You may be surprised by how many people around you experience the same confusion. However, just because we have experiences in common with others, and can rest assured that we are “normal,” does not mean that we are in a place of serenity.
The bottom line is when you get to the point where you’re done trying to sort it out on your own, there are therapists trained to help you. No matter what your scenarios, no matter what your narrative, no matter how embarrassing you may feel it is, it is not too much. You are not too much. Together, we can explore your challenges and, in the process, help you get to know the real you.
